What Do We Teach and Believe?

Jesus Christ

The center of everything we believe is that God sent His Son to become a man, Jesus Christ, and through Jesus' death on the cross we have the forgiveness of sins. We do many things wrong and we do not deserve life in heaven forever.  But God gives us forgiveness and life FREE, a gift!  It is His free gift, and God gives that gift to all who believe in Jesus.

We believe the Bible, the Old and New Testaments, is God's inspired word and has no errors.  Only the Bible can teach us about God and what He does.  Everything we teach and preach must come from the Bible.

What Does the Bible Teach?

People believe many different things about what the Bible teaches. We believe the Nicene Creed, the Apostles' Creed, and the Athanasian Creed give good summaries of what the Bible teaches. Those three creeds are from the early church and say what kind of faith the early church had. We still believe what those creeds say today.

We believe God is three persons, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; but still only one God. God the Father created this world, everything we can and can't see. God made the world perfect, but we are guilty of rebelling against Him.

God the Son became a human being (Jesus) just like us, except He didn't sin. He died on the cross, suffering for our sin. Because He suffered instead of us, we are free from sin, death, and hell. Jesus rose alive again on Easter morning, and that promises us that we will also rise alive.

God the Holy Spirit teaches us about Jesus. The Holy Spirit works through the church to lead people to faith in Jesus as their Savior. The Holy Spirit is God's guarantee that His promises are true. All of that encourages us to live every day in thanks and praise to God.
